Sir C. V. Raman

Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman was an Indian physicist known for his work in the field of light scattering.

Sir C.V.Raman discovered the Raman effect on 28 February 1928. He was born on 7 November 1888. Raman effect is a change in the wavelength of light that happens when a light ray is deflected by the molecules.

Sir C.V. Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics in 1930 for this Discovery.

" IAM THE MASTER OF MY FAILURES......

IF I NEVER FAIL,......

HOW WILL I EVER LEARN...... '"

                      :- C. V. RAMAN.

Raman has been honoured with a large number of honorary doctorate and membership of scientific societies. He was elected a fellow of the Royal Society early in his career  (1924), and was knighted in 1929.
